Welcome to Monkston Primary School. We hope our website offers a clear insight into our welcoming, inclusive community school, where integrity, compassion and respect are at the heart of everything we do. We support our pupils to build resilience, work collaboratively and develop a lifelong curiosity for learning.

Opened in 2001, Monkston provides an environment in which both pupils and staff are challenged to achieve their very best and are genuinely valued for their contributions. We are committed to delivering outstanding pastoral care alongside rich, engaging learning experiences, working in close partnership with parents and carers as children progress through the school.

I have been proud to work at Monkston for nearly 25 years and became Headteacher in 2017—the same year the school joined Kingsbridge Educational Trust. Many of our staff have also been part of the Monkston journey for a significant time, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the priorities and expectations of our local community.

We offer an engaging and ambitious curriculum, enhanced by a broad range of enrichment opportunities. In our most recent Ofsted report, inspectors noted that “Pupils relish the challenges of the school’s interesting and varied curriculum. They enjoy learning and are particularly keen to take part in the wide range of trips, clubs and visits on offer.”

At Monkston, we take a ‘heart and soul’ approach to teaching and caring for children. We are driven by a genuine desire to make a positive and lasting difference, supporting pupils to grow into enthusiastic, thoughtful, compassionate and responsible UK and global citizens.
