Children Starting School for the First Time - September 2026
For children born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022.
The Local Authority co-ordinates the application process for children starting school for the first time (applications will not be accepted at the school).
The deadline for applications was on 15 January 2026.
National Offer Day was on 16 April 2026.

In Year Applications for starting in September 2026
Applications for September open from 1st June 2026. To apply for a place at Monkston Primary School for September 2026, please complete the application form for September 2026-27.
In year KET Primary Application 2026-27
Any application received before 1st June, will be kept until June and then processed.
The application form is an editable PDF. Save the form to the device you are using, then complete the form and press save. The completed form should be emailed with the supporting documentation to [email protected]
If the current year group is full, a turn down letter will initially be sent out. You will then have the opportunity to place your child(ren) on the waiting list for the 2026/2027 academic year. The waiting list closes at the end of July 2027. This builds the waiting lists for each year group from September.
Once the school has returned from the school holidays in September then should there be any vacancies in the year group places will be offered to the top of the waiting list.
Please note than when a place does become available it is allocated strictly in accordance with the school's admissions criteria.
Monkston Primary School maintains a waiting list throughout the academic year. The waiting list will be ranked in accordance with the over-subscription criteria and length of time on the list will not be a factor in offering a place. This means that children will move up or down the list as other children are added or removed. Being on the waiting list does not guarantee a place at the school. Waiting lists close at the end of the academic year, closing at the end of July 2027.
Timeline for Admissions Appeals for Year R - September 2026
Following national offer day on Thursday, 16 April 2026, if you named Monkston Primary School as one of your preferences and were unsuccessful, you have a right to appeal against the decision to an indepdendent appeal panel.
The appeals timetable* for Monkston Primary School for pupils starting in Year R in September 2026 is shown below. Stage 1 hearing and Stage 2 individual hearings will be held virtually, with meeting invites issued by the Clerk to the Independent Appeal Panel nearer the time.

Requests for appeal forms must be made by noon on Friday, 15 May 2026.

Admission arrangements for September 2027
Monkston Primary School consulted on the proposed 2027 admission arrangements between 13 October and 28 November 2025. The Local Governing Body took into consideration the comments received when determining the admission arrangements. On the 10th February 2026, the Local Governing Body adopted the policy arrangements as per the proposed consultation document.
