Children Starting School for the First Time - September 2024

The application window has closed for Children starting school for the first time.

This is for Children born between 1^st September 2019 and 31^st August 2020.

The deadline for applications was on 15 January 2024 and the notification date was 16 April 2024.

Timeline for Admission Appeals for Year R - September 2024

Following national offer day on Tuesday, 16^th April 2024, if you named Monkston Primary School as one of your preferences and were unsuccessful, you have a right to appeal against the decision to an independent appeal panel.

The appeals timetable* for Monkston Primary School for students starting in Year R in September 2024 is shown below. Stage 1 hearing and Stage 2 individual hearings will be held virtually, with meeting invites issued by the Clerk to the Independent Appeal Panel nearer the time.

Wednesday, 15^th May 2024 at 3pm

Deadline to request an appeal form

Friday, 17^th May 2024 at 3pm

Deadline to lodge an appeal**

Week Commencing 24^th June 2024

Appeal hearings will be held during this week.

Appellants will be advised as to precise day and time by the clerk.

Should you wish to appeal against the decision not to offer your child a place at Monkston Primary School, please email [email protected] providing the name of the child, their date of birth, name of school and an email address where the appeal paperwork can be sent. Requests for appeal forms must be made by 3pm on Wednesday, 15^th May 2024.

*Please note it may not be possible to include within this timetable any appeals that are lodged after the deadline.

**This is the deadline by which the completed appeal form must be received by the Clerk to the Independent Appeal Panel.

The defined area for Monkston Primary School is Kingston, Monkston and Monkston Park.

Monkston and Monkston Park is shared with Oakgrove Primary School

In Year Admissions

In Year admissions refer to applications made at any other time after the initial September entry into Year R.

Parents/Carers should be aware that Monkston Primary School is an oversubscribed school with more applicants than places available. Please note that when a place does become available it is allocated strictly in accordance with the school’s admissions criteria. Applications for an in year admission should be made on the Monkston Primary School application form.

In year KET Primary Application 2023-24

To complete on a phone/tablet/computer, you will need to save it on to the device, complete the form and then save the completed form. The form may then be emailed with any other attachments to: [email protected]

Applying for places in September 2024

If you wish to apply for a place for September 2024 onwards, then the application window is open from the 1^st June 2024,

In year KET Primary Application 2024-25

There are places in current year R – moving up to year 1 (September 2024) and in the year R starting in September 2024.

However all the other year groups are full so for Year 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 applications, applying for any of these year groups will mean you will receive a turn down letter and have the option to place your child(ren) on the waiting lists for September 2024. This builds the waiting list.

The waiting lists are ranked via the oversubscription criteria. Length of time on the waiting list is not a factor in offering a place.

In September, once the school returns from the summer holidays, if there are any confirmed vacancies then spaces are offered to those students at the top of the waiting list.

Being on the waiting list does not guarantee a place at the school.
