Children Starting School for the First Time - September 2025

The Local Authority co-ordinates the application process for children starting school for the first time. (Applications will not be accepted at the school). Further information can be found on Milton Keynes Council website:

This is for Children born between 1^st September 2020 and 31^st August 2021.

The deadline for applications was the 15th January 2025.

National Offer Day is 16th April 2025.

Timeline for Admission Appeals for Year R - September 2025

Following national offer day on Wednesday 16th April 2025, if you named Monkston Primary School as one of your preferences and were unsuccessful, you have a right to appeal against the decision to an independent appeal panel.

The appeals timetable* for Monkston Primary School for students starting in Year R in September 2025 is shown below. Stage 1 hearing and Stage 2 individual hearings will be held virtually, with meeting invites issued by the Clerk to the Independent Appeal Panel nearer the time.

In year KET Primary Application 2025-26

The application form is an editable PDF. Save the form to the device you are using, then complete the form and press save. The completed form should be emailed with the supporting documentation to [email protected] .

The school is currently full in year 2 (year 3 September 2025) to year 5 (year 6 September 2025), so a turn down letter will initially be sent out if you are applying these year groups and your children will be placed on the waiting list for September 2025. This builds the waiting lists for each year group for September.

Once the school has returned from the school holidays in September then should there be any vacancies in the year group places will be offered to the top of the waiting list.

Monkston Primary School maintains a waiting list throughout the academic year. The waiting list will be ranked in accordance with the over-subscription criteria and length of time on the list will not be a factor in offering a place. This means that children will move up and down the list as other children are or removed. Being on the waiting list does not guarantee a place at the school. Waiting lists close at the end of the academic year.

If you are seeking a place for year R, 1 or 2 (September 2025) there are currently places. For year 1 & 2 (September 2025) please complete the in year application form and return with the supporting documentation. For year R (September 2025) please contact the Milton Keynes City Council – Education Access team to apply for a school place.

Admission arrangements for September 2026

Monkston Primary School consulted on the proposed 2026 admission arrangements between 4th November and 13th December 2024. There were no proposed updates and no comments were received. The Local Governing Body determined the 2026 admission arrangements, as set out in the consultation, on 16th December 2024.
