In 4E our science day was all about states of matter. We tested the rate at which ice melts in different environments, for example, in hot water, at room temperature water, in cold water, with no water inside and with no water outside. We also experimented with and questioned states of matter by mixing cornflour and water.
4J looked at states of matter by predicting how long it would take the candle to melt an ice cube. Interestingly, the one next to the open door by the window melted first. The children believe the Sun and wind helped to speed up the melting process.
