Welcome to Year 2!
We have loved our first term in Year 2! The children have learnt so much including writing diaries, writing instructions, identifying the place value in numbers to 100, how to add and take away larger numbers, the different continents of the world, the countries and capital cities of the UK, how to think positive and be resilient and how to identify and understand different habitats in our environment. On top of all that, the children performed wonderfully in their production of Hats Off and impressed everyone with their excellent singing and fantastic acting.
We look forward to second half of autumn term where the children will continue to learn about addition and subtraction, money, multiplication and division. The children will also be learning about traditional tales, continuing with their PE lessons, starting their learning about the world wars and armistice day in history lessons, continuing learning about mixing colours in art (taking inspiration from famous artists) and learning about materials in science.
If you wish to help your child at home, please practise reading aloud, recalling the 2, 5 and 10 times tables, telling the analogue time, identifying coins and adding money and practise spelling the common exception words (please find these below).
Our PE days are Monday's and Friday's; however, please ensure all P.E. kits are clearly named (even socks!) and include appropriate clothing for cold weather.
Our changing book days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Our library day is Tuesday.
