The application window for secondary school applications opened on 3 September 2018 and closes at midnight on 31 October 2018.
Applications must be completed online on the portal here. Information on local schools, their admission criteria and advice and guidance about the process and timelines can be found on the council’s website at www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/schooladmissions.
Every year a number of families fail to make an application on time. This often leads to children not being allocated any of their preferences, or even their catchment school if it is already full. This causes distress for the child and family and may result in poor engagement or children missing education altogether.
The Council has sent postcards to schools for distribution to every Year 6 pupil. However, schools also need to support this process, in whatever way they can, to raise awareness of the need for parents to apply by 31 October and provide links to the online portal and information advice and guidance.
