Welcome to Year 2!
We have lots of exciting topics to look forward to during our Spring Term!
In literacy, we will be reading and writing stories based on books by Anthony Browne. We also will be writing persuasive letters, character descriptions, and diary entries. This term we are ensuring we use different sentence starters and conjunctions including 'because', 'and', 'but' and 'so'.
In numeracy, we are continuing to learn written methods for addition and subtraction. We will also be learning methods for division and subtraction and telling the time to 5 minute intervals. Please practise the 2, 3 , 5 and 10 times tables at home with your child.
In science, we have an exciting topic of 'Apprentice Gardener' where we will be growing our own plants! We will also be investigating different factors that can impact how a plant grows.
In history, we will be learning about Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole- who they were, what the their lives were like and how they are still important today.
In R.E, we will be learning about special books used in different religions and we will also be sharing our own special books with the class.
