Introduction

When the governing body was first formed we were determined that the new school would enjoy a well-deserved reputation within the community for its commitment to high standards in all aspects of its education provision.

We are delighted that, six years on, we have just received a second, excellent OFSTED report that grades Monkston Primary School as a ‘Good school with many outstanding features'. This has been achieved through the strong and effective leadership of the Head teacher and the commitment and support of an outstanding team of enthusiastic, professional and highly skilled staff.

The school’s commitment to developing students’ potential in all kinds of ways has been rewarded by achievements such as the Healthy Schools Award, an Active Mark Award for sports and the ICT Mark for the use of Information Technology to support learning. We are also pleased to enjoy excellent performances by the children in the school plays and concerts.

The governing body is working hard with the Head teacher and leadership team to ensure that this community school provides a welcoming, caring and challenging environment. We believe that education is the responsibility of children, teachers, parents and governors all working closely together. We know from research and experience that the role of parents in supporting their child’s education is particularly important in helping each child to be the best they can be.

As parents and carers you will always be welcome at the school whether it is to discuss your own child’s progress, or to take part in the many school activities that take place throughout the year.
